I Am Not Afraid of Me Anymore

I Am Not Afraid of Me Anymore

“I AM NOT AFRAID OF ME ANYMORE”, is a journey of repatriation to oneself. To return what was taken away or subconsciously and unconscioulsy sold into the slavery of self supression and fear. These are Sabrena’s mirror essays that document how she has learned to unlock her personal “fear cultures”, which caused her to live in her own shadow in her teen years and as a young adult. The unlocking process now facilitates her living and enjoying her fullest life. These stories are shared with the hope that they will help others (especially young women) to free themselves from fear and get closer to owning and loving their light, much sooner in their lives.

In the book, Sabrena not only shares her stories but also some practical exercises that she has used to help her become comfortable with owning her light. These exercises are easy to do and can be applied to the lifting of various fear-laden roadblocks in the life of anyone who desires to declare "I am not afraid....of me anymore".

Breathing Space

Breathing Space

Breathing Space is a leap into words from a Caribbean woman’s perspective. It plays within and outside the wave patterns of verse and dances with prose and poetry to topics that span feminine and personal evolution as well as love in varying shades and textures, all influenced by her experience of growing up Jamaican. At the heart of this collection is a reflection on the impact of relationships on one’s journey. The poems illustrate Sabrena McDonald Radcliffe’s signature as a dub poet and dialogue writer and present her as being comfortable telling stories on both pages. It is an invitation to pause, breathe and release a smile, sigh, cry or laugh. With a foreword by Owen Blakka Ellis, renowned Caribbean writer, comedian, actor and educator, this collection is tropical flavours of global themes that connect us all.
